Principal's Message

I am so proud to serve as principal of Walker Jr. High; an international destination school with unlimited possibilities. As an alumni of Walker Junior High School, this is my home.  Alongside a caring and devoted staff, we are proud to offer a wide variety of electives and academic courses that lead to high school pathways and college and career success. We believe in the power of diversity and student voice and choice, and Walker is a uniquely diverse campus that celebrates a multi-cultural experience and promotes civic engagement through student-led community service learning projects and civic inquiry. Through our award-winning programs, we inspire confidence and encourage students to be Scholars, have a Positive Attitude, get Involved and be Leaders (SAIL). Through a focus on the 5 C’s: Creativity, Critical Thinking, Communication, Collaboration, and Compassion/Kindness we offer students a 21st Century experience. Junior high is all about growing and developing our students into globally-minded, independent, life-long learners who understand the idea of “yet”  and that here at Walker they can be unlimited or as we like to say; their Unlimited You!

The two years of junior high will fly by quickly. My tips for success and making the most of junior high are:

  • Get involved: try playing a sport that is new to you in our after-school Intramural program; join a club; take a class where you get to perform or create something for the school; participate in school activities (dances, lunchtime activities, Fun Run, etc.)
  • Utilize your student planner to write down homework and events so you do not forget anything.
  • Make a connection with at least one person in each class so if you have homework questions in the evening, you have someone you can contact for help or clarification.
  • If you are struggling in any of your classes, see your teacher for help before the end of the quarter. We have tutoring opportunities before and after school as well.
  • If you are having a problem at school, talk to an adult. We are here to help you succeed in junior high and beyond and are here to support you.
  • Start thinking about your future. What do you want to be when you get older? What must you do to reach that goal? College? Technical training? Volunteering?
  • Do your very best.
  • Have fun. You will be amazed at how soon you will be filling out your course requests for high school.
